Like her namesake in greek mythology, Arachnae didn't begin life looking the way she does now. She had been captured by mages when she was very small, and they changed her appearance so much that she no longer bears much resemblance to the sira she had been born. Ara grew up knowing that she was different. The sira village she found herself in was uncomfortable, at best, downright abusive and neglectful at worst. So Ara isn't very trusting, especially when confronted with new, possibly hostile creatures. She's kind and loving, however, and even though Madal may hunt her, she's just as happy to have a companion in the wilderness, though she wishes Madal were male and siran of origin, rather than the huntress she's found herself with. Oh well.
When she was younger, Arachnae disovered that she could make a safe haven for herself, and so now, in the wilds of her new home, she's living within the protection of her life deity.
