And the Crystal Cracked...
Notes on the creation of Unyko

Chosen Name: Unyko, or Uny
Given Names: Kalencirya, Niaryalii
Species: Unknown/Shapeshifter/Life Deity
Favorite Form(s): Uni'Dragon~fly, Amalgamate, Anthro
Age: Unknown, can remember about 20,000yrs

In the RL creation of the character Unyko, she started out as a vague idea for some long lost and forgotten purpose. She has changed and evolved quite alot over the years, but her first form, seen in the background of these pages, is still almost the same as it was when it was first created. My absolute favorite animals at the time were dragons, so you can see where that aspect came from. The sea-horsey face was also derived from my likes at the time, as were the butterfly wings (or fairy wings that they later evolved into). Obviously, unicorns (being my next choice in fantastic animals) leant the silver spiral horn and star on her forehead. Green eyes, blue swirls and silver-edged wings evolved from my most loved of all three; eye color, base color, pattern and metal.
Unyko's own memory is somewhat hazy, or just downright lacking, but if she were to remember and tell how her existance began, this is how it would enfold...

The Past Revealed

Once, long before the universe began, the Powers that Be decided that they'd like to try an experiment. They created the universe and everything in it as an arena, and plotted out different stages here and there; a constant (Earth) and several different dimentions to decide different outcomes. They then created special Keepers of the different dimentions. Some Creators with limited powers like their own to fill their chosen worlds and realms with life, or destroy that very spark as they chose to see fit. Some Keepers to oversee the creation.
One such was Unyko. She, unlike some others, was not given prior knowledge that would aid her progress. No experiences before her Creation, no knoledge of said. She was created as a formless, ageless being, capable of almost anything. She was a gamble for the Creators; if they had chosen the wrong intelegence to represent this power, they themselves might have been threatened. They did, however, have an agency to prevent such an occurance. They, as her Creators, posessed a power greater than hers. Should it become nessesary, they would unite to banish the infant Unyko to a realm where her powers would be meaningless.
They created a crystal, pure and unflawed. When they placed the chosen inteligence into it, a single fracture appeared as it could not contain the power they had given the being it held. The crack shattered the perfection of the crystal, and Unyko emerged. Nameless, formless, with not even the knowledge of a newborn.
     And thus the test began.

Unyko woke, experiencing life for the first time and seeing the universe around her. Strange. She looked at the world spinning slowly below her, cabable of retaining life, but not yet harboring the seed of it. She looked around, sensing other inteligences and opening a portal to one of them as easily as a baby opens it's eyes for the first time. And just as effortlessly, she saw her first glimpse of life as a form. Draconic creations on a world far from the first she'd seen. She was captivated by their forms, watching them move and react to eachother in a way she could not. She sensed another presence and portaled there, only to find more of a similar draconic race. Though they had different creators, one more advanced and one just beginning to learn, they were startlingly the same. This caused her to think that all life in the huge universe was similar.
She returned to the first planet she'd seen and studied it's barren face. Maybe if she tried taking care of one of these creatures, she'd learn how to create her own. Already, inspiration was flowing through her and she began designing dragons of her own.
The infant Unyko formed life on the planet, starting with plants, water, and moving up to various small creatures to start the ecosyetem as she saw it could be. When at last she thought it could sustain life, she began to call on others to live in her realm. She started small, and after some years of caring for various creatures, she thought she was ready to create her own.
The decision to find another realm to keep her creations was a practical one; she didn't want to accidentally cause a disaster within the confines of her already populated world.
Once again, she began small and grew, untill this new world was also cabable of retaining life forms larger than insects. The first of her Creations would be dragons. Of course, she'd seen several different forms since her first outing, but the great dragons still made quite an impression on her young mind. After them, many more creatures had evolved in her mind's eye, but first she needed a physical body.
She didn't want to use an already created form, so she mixed several together. What she ended up with was a small form, no larger than a foot from nose to tail tip, the same from wing tip to wing tip, but it was what she found lovely. She even created a creature that shared her general shape, though not her intelligence. The Dragon~Flys, which are closer to the sparrows of earth in their size and mental capacity. Runners, the great carnivorous creatures that they were, needed sustanance, so other, smaller creatures were created. She created the Kartyn'dyrysose, the Runners' smaller, herbivorous cousins, then taught them how to dig their Denns.
Virina'Miir were made. Then the Sirasa, her crowning achievement, appeared. These created a language all their own, rather than using the gutteral speech of the runners, or short, clipped Miir tongue. These last were often transported via portal to the first world to help care for adopted creatures from other worlds.
Then the unthinkable happened. A plague raged across the Creation world, taking Dragons, Runners, K'ds, Siraze... none were spared it's awsome force. At the time, it was an unknown, destructive power that seemed to tear through her creation's minds as well as bodies, turning them against one another and driving them mad.
Desperate, Unyko made a portal to the adopteds world, hoping to save the few that still remained untouched. The Kartyn'dyrysose were hit the hardest, large Denns spreading the disease through their far-reaching system of tunnels. Only few remained uncontaminated, but they were brought through and released to begin over again. The Runners and Sira were not as affected, and the great Suva dragons were all but untouched, but their rate of growth was a factor that limited the rate of regrowth. Today, there are more K'ds than Runners, and more Runners than Sira. And many more of any other speicies than Suva, but those dragons that came accross took on a special role; Keeping the remaining creatures safe.
Unyko was devistated. She left off Creating, fearing her own power of destruction. Many sentient lives had flickered and vanished in that onslaught, they flowed back into Unyko with their knowlede, and she wept their sorrows.
Much time went by. Centuries, ages, and still she refrained from her power, turning away from the pleas of the aged and fading creatures, hiding in her misery. However, the heartache began to fade, and she looked again to her world, spinning gently below. Slowly, she began to search, finding other Creators once again.
She stumbled across many communities, the variety of forms (including some that never quite settled) and personalities caused her to re-think her self. Why regret something she had no hand in? How much more good could she do if she began creating again, than if she never tried? Did she truely want to be trapped within one form for her entire existance? That answer came quickly enough: No, most definitly not. And even as she thought it, her shape changed. She became a dragon, a unicorn, pegasus, gryphon, innumerable forms flashed, and she became them all.
Splended in her newfound freedom, she Created many creatures and shared their forms; Akailei A'Siirsa, Equines of the Elements, and Akaiotti formed an aligance with a freind, a fellow Creator. Kittygriffs ended her range of sentience, and after them NerryClanaarsa, the Lost Dancers. She returned to the 'dyrysose and Runners, Sira, Virina'Miir, and Dragon~Flys. And finally the Suva, to whom she gave a great gift; they would no longer be succeptible to that plague, or the power that started it.
It was then that the destructive power returned, this time, however, Unyko recognized it, gave it a name, and therefore cut it off from herself. It became her polar opposite. Where she was the eity of creation and life, he became the deity of death and destruction, and in that moment, much of his power was lost. Now he had a name and a form, he could no longer effect Unyko's thoughts from within, could no longer remain a hidden influence. So he vanished for a time, hoping to learn from others how to regain his lost strength.
And Unyko was happy again, surrounded by friends, fellow Creators, soul-sisters. All circulating support, help, and kindness for eachother.
Untill Morchaint returned, as strong as he once was. Past flows into present... and the plague returns with him.
