Magis Prime is the first planet in it's system, circling a single sun and circled by three moons. Mag-Alhpa and Mag-Beta are almost identical in size and make-up, but Mag-Omega, the smallest of the three and following a completely different orbit, was found to be of an entirely different origin - a comet that the planet had snagged and somehow managed to keep in orbit. The names are not very original, I know, but neither the planet or it's moons were actually supposed to be habitable. Simply one of those systems that was named and then passed by during the long centuries of the Expansion.
Earth-like planets are few and far-between, and Magis was not one of them when it was charted. However, something happened between then and now. A second analysis of the planet and it's moons revealed that it suddenly supported an atmosphere and ecosystem almost identical to earth. Strange, no? It hadn't even been a full century between the two scans. Oh well, might as well colonize, right? Immediately, the settlers discovered that Magis was well named. There was some internal planetary force that, for some, allowed them to command what was concluded to be 'magic'. It seemed to open up, in certain individuals, a sort of sense, that they could use even off the planet's surface, though it's not nearly so strong offworld as on. So now, well into the second century since it's settlment, magic and technology work together on Magis, and it's inhabitants include not only native flora and fauna, but both humans and other races that have settled there. And many of those have once again taken to the stars in search of... well, they all have their own agenda, don't they?
